Emily ''Cissy'' Drinkard Houston, 53, was a founding member in the early `60s of the Sweet Inspirations, a group that sang back-up on hundreds of songs by stars such as Elvis Presley and Aretha Cissy also sang backup for Franklin, in addition to Elvis Presley. When she was on tour, Cissy left Whitney, Gary, and their brother Michael for extended periods of time with relatives. Aside of Sweet Inspirations, Smith sang back up for Elvis in his Graceland recordings as well. Cissy Houston left in 1969 to pursue her own solo career but the Sweet Inspirations remained loyal to the king of rock & roll.
